Congrats to Kailee Riches, the winner of our Spring 2007 ecofashion raffle. Kailee won Mademoiselle Modiste’s Rainbow Bright Dress, tailored from re-sourced fabrics. Sarah Richard, the mind behind Mademoiselle Modiste writes that every article she sews is a piece of art: “People become attached to what they wear—the average woman between 18 to 54 years of age has hung on to her favorite article of clothing for 12.5 years, a year longer than she’s held on to her longest relationship!”

New to the mindful life, Kailee tries not to use plastic bags for groceries and takes public transportation whether she can. “I’m getting a bike for my birthday so I’m pretty excited for that!” she says, “I like Elephant because it’s so creative and I think it really appeals to a wide audience. I’m reading Vanessa’s Green as a Thistle blog, which I found through your magazine. elephant’s really opening my eyes, making green living feel accessible.”
