Brooklyn’s Flea Market

Via on Apr 14, 2008

Why do we love flea markets? Because flea markets mean vintage, re-used, hand-made, one-of-a-kind clothing and furniture. The polar opposite of walking into a Target or WalMart—bombarded with racks of mass-produced, cheap, China-made products—strolling through a flea market is like buying veggies from a local farm. People meet and actually talk to each other. They learn new things (like who knew that people devote their lives to collecting obscure pottery from postwar West Germany?) and find value in the quirky and independent.

Check out this slideshow of the first Brooklyn Flea market from and then search here to find a flea market near you. Let the treasure hunt begin!
