Review: The Only 127 Things You Need: A Guide to Life’s Essentials

This is one of those books that are great for parents to give their children as they head out to college, to their first apartment, or life on their own in general. Actually, this is one of those nifty little books that just about anyone should have on their bookshelf. While the book does get into actual “things” like basic items a well-equipped kitchen should have and basic items everyone should have in their wardrobe, it goes far beyond that, including things like a nutritious diet, regular exercise, a fulfilling spiritual life, and a good night’s sleep. What makes this book particularly useful is that it tells you why these things are so important to life, and it is clear that author Donna Wilkinson has done her research, drawing information from sources such as Prevention Magazine to the American Dietetic Association and Victor Frankl to Jon Kabat-Zinn, Deepak Chopra and Robert Thurman. Published by the Penguin Group, this book can be found at your favorite local, independent bookstore, or wherever one might find cool, useful little books like this one.
