I can soooo relate to your experience. Visiting my family in Germany this past Christmas, after four years of deliberate absence, I was hit by similar feelings – and questions. What the heck was I thinking all these years? In the traditions I’m most familiar with, Sufism and the Ancient Wisdom, family always comes first. So true. Of what ethical/moral value are our attempts to save the world when, at the same time, we’re not investing energy where it’s needed closest to us, at home?

At any rate, you’re doing great and important work. Keep going! Things will get easier with time.
