ABC Refuses to Run Ad from Al Gore’s “We Can Solve It” Campaign. Watch the ad [video] and Send ABC a Friendly Note.

We’ve debated this question often: If Hummer or Monsanto or a company that we knew was blatantly greenwashing wanted to take out an ad in elephant, would we accept it? On one hand, we’d be providing a platform for misleading information, but on the other—and this is the conclusion we usually come to—we’re confident that our readers can think for themselves, and it’s not our business to filter what people are exposed to, but rather to state our own opinions (and we’d state them about Hummer and Monsanto, regardless of taking their ad $$, were that ever to happen) and cover stories that we think are important.

ABC, however, seems to have a different agenda. The network recently refused to air an ad from Al Gore’s “we can solve it” campaign, which works to promote awareness about climate change. Is the ad offensive or obscene? Hardly—watch it for yourself below. While it has a strong message, no facts are distorted (like we regularly see happen in Karl Rove-type political ads.)

After your watch the video, click here to send a quick note to ABC, urging them to air the ad.
