Dessert? if you can, get dessert at Atlas on 2nd ave btwn 4th and 5th on the west side of the street. Ridiculously small.. you might walk by it 20 times before you actually find it. It is the best Vegan dessert I have ever tasted... ever ever ever and their Vegan savory food is also really yummy. Oh, I wish I could eat some now.

Coffee and cappuccinos? Mud coffee (9th st btwn 2nd and 1st ave) in the east village is some of the best on that side of town and the Grey Dog (carmine st right off bleecker)in the West Village is incredibly good, its been voted best coffee in NYC. They both stay open late and serve alcohol.

How about dinner? And I'll stop after a few more!, NYC has really great Ethiopian food and one of my favorites is a little restaurant in the east village called Awash. They let you bring in your own wine, 6th st btwn 1st and 2nd ave.
Like Indian? well on 1st ave btwn 5th and 6th there are 3 great indian restaurants and each will compete for your patronage! decorations are great and so is the food. Everyone gets a kick out these places and its definitely worth a visit.
And as for soul food goes, unless you are headed way up up up town, Mama's in the east village will satisfy you, for sure. So good, so affordable, plenty of vegetarian options. 3rd st btwn ave a & b

Coffee, dessert, dinner. Got em all except breakfast, check out Ess-a-bagel for bagels (2 locations on Manhattan) that are truly the best you will ever have.

Im not trying to show off, I just love to eat and these are places that I visited regularly. Have fun in NYC!
