Growing Jewelry. Literally.

Remember pronouncing undying love to your childhood crush with a ring made of grass?

Fast forward 20 years…

Hafsteinn Juliusson is a product designer from Reykjavik, Iceland and now resides in Milan, Italy. He prefers to make one-off prototypes rather than add to the general “mis-consumption” of mass production.

Growing Jewelry is a redefinition of modern values. It is a clash of jewelry and gardening; couture and organism. The collection of this hand jewelry is designed for people in metropolitan cities and is an experiment in drawing nature toward man, as nature being the presupposition of life.

Well I’ll be!  I bet my beau will read this and think this is just as acceptable as a Canadian mined diamond!! Although in the long run it actually makes a lot of sense.  Any relationship requires patience, care, responsibility and love among other things. Plants and humans aren’t so different after all.

It is important to take good care of Growing Jewelry. The owner must water it regularly and nurture it like any other plant. So It’s up to the owner to make sure that the jewelery is at it’s best.

A personal responsibility with nature? I love it. Totally 21st Century.
