I have been browsing online more than 3 hours today, but I never found any fascinating article like yours. It's lovely value sufficient for me. In my view, if all web owners and bloggers made excellent content as you probably did, the web will probably be much more useful than ever before.

I was diagnosed with ADHD as an adult, long after I had discovered other ways of trying to cope with symptoms for which I had no label. Stimulants, starvation, excess exercising, drugs-any way I could to get my brain to work right. After diagnosis, I tried everything, including the things you list in this post and they helped. Medications helped as well. Finding care providers and doing massive research on how to handle symptoms in daily life helped. It is a very real disorder, that easily mimics others. I don't think it's all or nothing treatments. To maximize living well with ADHD, there needs to be a holistic approach that makes changes to diet, exercise, environment, treatments, medications, different healing modalities, as well as tools for handling the symptoms when they crop up. And education for those close to the ADHD person to help them recognize what is the disorder, especially when the person might be in the ADHD fog and not noticing them.

One note about "blaming diet for ADHD and ADD," eating the things your body reacts to can be a way of naturally looking for stimulation to help with focus and calming. In the long run, it does the opposite, but without diagnosis, food is another way that ADHDers gravitate toward the things that can help (like nicotine, caffeine, cocaine, stimulants, etc) They can easily be another indicator of ADHD or ADD as well as a contributor to increased symptoms.

As a child my partner, before ADHD was thought of, my partner was diagnosed with an 'overdeveloped sense of rhythm'. I love that - the best description ever. The remedy given was musical instruments and lots of extra-curricular activities. It got him through the school years, although he lacked direction and was unable to graduate.

At 32, he was diagnosed ADHD and given medication. While I was unsure about ADHD before, I can tell you it is truly a disorder, exhausting to the sufferer and to loved ones.

I don't believe children should be medicated, I think every alternative avenue MUST be explored first, but there are some people who do need this medication.

My partner told me the first time he took his meds, he cried - he could 'hear his thoughts' and make longer lasting decisions for the first time in his life.

One month a few years ago, our house was broken into and a safe containing his medication was stolen. He had to wait 3.5 weeks to get more due to the guidelines in Australia. It was torturous for him.

I found the best natural remedies which helped him were a combination of magnesium powder, brahmi and flax seed oil.

I am no scientist, but the best remedy I have found for the hyperactivity is physical activity, and for the attention deficit was the above remedies and one on one focus. I think everyone would be in agreement that a holistic approach is the best to take.

Both of my young children exhibit typical behaviours considered for ADHD, but I just run them ragged with activity, I talk to them face to face, for discipline and directions. I limit sugars and processed foods.

And I'm not that good at it, but it makes things manageable. What I hate is that when people see them being hyper, it's the dismissive 'God, your kids must be ADD' attitude of other parents or even strangers. It's the look of judgement that it must be my parenting skills because I let them jump in puddles and pull apart their toys to work out how they work.

i lived in 'seen but not heard' and 'speak when spoken to' childhood - I want my kids to discover and feel free.

Are people just a bit impatient with the self discovery of children? Shouldn't we all try to be a little ADD sometimes?
