Ban Styrofoam. I’m talking to you Foolish Craigs, Sherpa’s, Gelato Bacio & other favorite Boulder hotspots.

Via on Nov 23, 2008

I was disappointed the other day when buying a pint of organic, locally-sourced, gourmet yumminess at the generally-eco Gelato Bacio when I noticed they offer styrofoam containers.

Haven’t we read the news today old boy? Styrofoam is dead, outlawed in many U.S. municipalities for making everything around it dead as well…and for sticking around for centuries upon centuries. So let’s follow Santa Monica’s example, dear Boulder City Council, and help lead the way by outlawing styrofoam!

Agree? Click here and say so.

Yours,
Way

PS: Or, if you’re an eco-minded restaurant, please consider leading the way by buying safe, biodegradable, affordable alternatives.

I totally agree… styrofoam is completely unnecessary at this point in our history… of course, there’s always To-Go Ware as an alternative (http://www.to-goware.com/), but in these days of corporatocracy, let’s not forget that talking with businesses and voting with our dollars counts for a lot as well… local businesses listen to their customers a lot more than many people think… so speak up! :)

Styrofoam makes up 25% of current landfill waste: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/simran-sethi/life-cycle-styrofoam-mark_b_127456.html

But, here’s something exciting. These guys are actually growing biodegradable styrofoam and foam insulation from algae:
