This may be shameless promotion but I thought since you were fun outdoor people you may be interested in this:

My husband and I are on a kayak trip right now down the east coast of the United States. We started in Lubec, Maine on Sept 2 this year and are trying to make it all the way to Key West, Florida. We are currently in Portland, Maine waiting out the winter. We have heard of a few people doing the trip before and we are so excited to be attempting it as well.
