Obama mourns loss of beloved grandmother. Death of family member brings competitive Presidential Candidates together.

As if the stresses of running for United States President weren’t enough, Barack Obama has been hit with the death of his 86 year old grandmother, Madelyn Dunham, at the cause of cancer.

“She was the cornerstone of our family, and a woman of extraordinary accomplishment, strength and humility” stated Sen. Obama and sister Maya Soetoro-Ng.

It has been a real group effort over the last couple of weeks for the Obamas.  While Barack took time away from the campaign to spend time with his grandmother in Hawaii, Michelle filled in at events in Ohio. Even Presidential Candidate Sen. John McCain gave his words on this tragic event offering his “deepest condolences to Barack Obama and his family as they grieve the loss of their beloved grandmother.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to them as they remember and celebrate the life of someone who had such a profound impact in their lives.”

Madelyn was an integral figure in Barack’s life and one who “poured everything she had into” him.
