Keith Olberman serves as a necessary reaction to Fox News–no one on TV was doing it before him. But he does not toe the DNC party line, nor does he make shit up. Is he a libtardo? Obviously, and at least he admits it, unlike anyone on Fox News. Maddow, again makes no bones about being liberal, but she has been doing some really important on-site journalistic stuff in the Gulf and in Afghanistan.

I realize this post is 2 years old, and John Stewart is hilarious, but to say that Fox = MSNBC is just simply inaccurate. I'm not necessarily touting the supremecy of MSNBC, although I definitely prefer it. Their "normal news" that is on all day is a joke. But Hardball, Countdown and Maddow are legit—not just leftist equivalence to Fox.

The trouble is, as sincere and honest as the likes of Amy Goodman or anybody on PBS might be, they're also so strident and humorless that even a lot of people who already agree with them on most issues (like myself) can't bear to listen to them, and thus have almost no chance of really influencing public discourse. If the left ever wants to get out of the academic ghetto, it's got to learn to speak to the people.

Maybe this is his subtle way of noting MSNBC has gone off the rails into some dark territory—Obama-in-bed-with-GE (parent company of MSNBC) is a clear conflict of interest.

Maybe Stewart is among growing number of journalists freaking out at the Obama administration threatening the free press under the lame excuse "Fox is bad." Maybe Stewart, like more and more in the media, are seeing the mob mentality of the administration and realize when Fox is silenced, they are next.

Stewart appears on O'Reilly fairly often so perhaps they see more eye-to-eye than what one might imagine.
