CU’s Folsom Field goes Zero Waste! You can help keep it that way!

Folsom Field no longer has trash cans! The stadium of a huge football school going zero-waste is no small victory. But thanks to the innovative, forward thinking of the Athletic program, CU can boast it is the first school to take this on of the NCAA Bowl Championship Series Stadiums. Other big schools to have begun the program include UC Davis and Penn State. The change was welcomed hugely this season, but it was difficult to get all the compost/recycle bins staffed. Because Zero-Waste programs are still being initiated, many people don’t realized what materials can be composted and recycled. So, it’s important to have volunteers who can point out the right bin. Unfortunately, it was difficult getting enough people to blow off the football game and man the recycle bins instead. But it’s critical!! We’ll follow up after next season to see how the program is developing…
