Living in Memphis, where recycling seems to be frowned upon, if not downright distrusted, I really applaud what CU has done with the stadium! That is a big statement - I hope they can stay committed to carrying it out. And let's hope visiting fans see what a neat thing zero-waste is and take the idea back to their home stadiums.

Way to go CU! Working for one of the best caterer's in Boulder, A Spice of Life, who also a few years ago went green with compostable and recyclable products at their events of up to 3,000, I hope this will spill over to other areas on campus, not just with the Athletic Programs. As students become graduates and enter the work force, I'm excited to think of the trickle down of effects of educating others in keeping our Earth healthy and whole.

It seems like, statewide, Colorado is way ahead of the country's curve on this issue, especially regarding composting. E.g., Planet Bluegrass and their CO festivals (Telluride, Rockygrass) have been composting for years, but none of the festivals out here in California do it (to my knowledge).

as a product designer at a consultancy, we've seen just in the last year or so a change in our clients, who are pretty suddenly willing to go greener in their products and packaging (which can be costlier for them and poses bigger challenges during design). there's a lot of pressure from consumers now to be green, and manufacturers are having to respond to it, which is great! a large institution like CU taking this step spurs more change for the better throughout industry.

Boulder County has a waste diversion program at its county facilities, including the building where I work. Governmental entities, like CU and local government, will continue to lead the way when it comes to the "greening" of our society. They are especially well-positioned to do this, given the amount of contact they have with the public at large.

Kudos to CU for instituting this program. I think with a little time and consumer learning it will be a success. Since Western Disposal has recently changed their collections to include compostables it required a little learning on my part. I hope more organizations adopt these policies.

I Think it's great that our university has been spearheading the green, environmentally friendly movement. With more programs such as this, maybe CU can become a beacon for Universities looking to Function using eco-friendly initiatives. Being innovative will also bring us National attention and hopefully more funding for more programs and improvements on our campus.
