Yesterday at brunch, my friend made a comment about my hair.
Yes, it is true, girls do not like comments about themselves (if it is good it is perceived as creepy and if it is mean it is perceived as a**hole-ness). I recently dyed my hair “blonde” and there has been quite a big quarrel among my friends. In this day and age, who is to know what hair color is to which person, or which tan is to which person. What is funny with me is that I have been pretending that my hair is dark brown/black for at least 5 years (dying my hair for the last five years). It is interesting when someone you have known for less than 6 months can guesstimate your path or say that you’re a fraud by the direction you’re (your haircolor is) going into. I used to have light hair. I used to have dark hair. I have light.medium.dark. hair now. So what is natural?
You analyze a person by your first interpretation. My friend met me with dark hair (apparently now my ‘natural’ hair color is dark brown/black). Wrong. People are so easily manipulated.
Oh yes and back to my point. My friend said he didn’t like my ‘blonde’ hair because it wasn’t ‘natural’. HA. I laughed at that comment. I think to myself, “you don’t even know natural. You are just as simple as they are. What you see is what you get. Ha.”
So I think how ignorant some are. It don’t matter if you’re (I’m) black or white? I dye both ways. How is one more ‘natural’ than the other. Yes I know, it is horrible for myself and the environment, but I can’t help it. And is it worse than improper judgmentalism? It is no more right to dye my hair (dark brown/black) than bleach my hair (blonde)? How come if my hair is dark brown that looks ‘natural’ when I am by nature a light brown/medium blonde?
People are judgmental and discriminative in their own way and in every way. It is hard to fight every problem against you so you might as well cope with it and live for yourself (not someone else’s misinterpretations of you).
