this is a poor replacement for richard serra's tilted arc, which was originally sited here but hauled off due to reactionary philistinism by city officials. a shame for new york that these silly benches replaced one of the most important pieces of public art in the city's history.

The French, exactly! My wife and I were in Paris a few years ago and were amazed by the landscape architecture employed there. Great to see it happening in New York.
