DepartDOJ did a review of the effects on the assault weapons ban, and decided that among other things assault weapons were used so rarely in crime that it simply wasn't worth all of the hullabaloo.
If you want gun control, it needs to be aggressive, pervasive, all-inclusive and long-term. Think maybe that's why so many are against it?

Guns are weapons of mass destruction. If one REALLY needs to harm someone else, do it with one's bare hands. THAT takes guts.

Yes, we need our assault weapons to protect us against the bad guys who have assault weapons. How did the bad guys get the assault weapons? With the help of the NRA who fight all forms of gun control legislation including attempts to shut down the gun shows where anyone can buy these.

I watched that show and it was easy to feel sympathetic for their point of view. BUT look at what happened in Australia when they began gun control and destroyed their citizen's guns. Crime did not go down, it skyrocketed! There are terrible gun crimes in this country and accidents. We like to think that if guns were romoved that would remove the problem, but it would only remove the means for the common person to protect themselves. That vulnerability leads to increase in crime. Making it tougher to get a gun IS gun control and it takes away our rights. Let's just say IF I felt extremely threated by a person, a group, or a government and KNEW that the police couldn't/wouldn't protect me, what could I do? Just consider the flip side before agreeing with taking away rights to TRY to stop criminals. It is such a fundamental part of the Constitution! I don't know what Liz meant by babies, but a lot of people considered the young men who protect us in many wars, specifically WWII, to be considered kids. What a blessing it is that so many young people can be trained to use firearms and are willing to do good, not evil. Thank you.

I live in Virginia. Gun lust is in the eyes of children here. My husband's niece received one of those Barbie pink guns (makin' 'em female friendly!) for Christmas. Makes me sick. Gun lust is so overwhelming here and Virginia is always 25 years behind the times. It will take a loooong time for change. In the meantime, more guns will be in the hands of babies.
