A Gardening Revolution has taken root at Lush Handmade Cosmetics stores across the universe. In appreciation of Earth Day (click here for great GUp roundup), Lush has created a station where customers can make their own seed bombs, to be planted around the world on Wednesday April 22 [Earth Day]. Lush has a stronger-than-most eco-responsible background, creating many of their cosmetics using natural herbs and spices, along with mostly vegan products.
Guerrilla Gardening began as an effort to bring life, flowers, trees…to neglected spaces like lots, empty corners, traffic medians, abandoned land. Guerrilla Gardeners are fighting a “war against neglect and scarcity of public space as a place to grow things, be they beautiful, tasty, (or both!)” The mission of Guerrilla Gardening is to transform concrete jungles into something of beauty. Some guerrilla gardeners perform their duties in the secrecy of night, while others join volunteers group to garden abandoned lots by day. Day or night, all guerrilla gardeners “believe in re-considering land ownership in order to reclaim land from perceived neglect or misuse and assign a new purpose to it.”

How to make a Seed Bomb:
Seed Bombs are the ultimate tool for any Guerrilla Gardener. All you need is clay, soil, seeds, water and a bit of love!
5 parts* clay
3 parts* compost soil
1 part* seeds (its best to use seeds native to your land)
1-2 parts* water
*Parts refer to any form of measurement size you want, cup, mug, black LUSH pot.
Step 1: Combine all ingredients, except the water, into a large bowl and mix well until ingredients are combined.
Step 2: Slowly add 1-2 cups water and mix until thick (similar consistently to cookie dough).
Step 3: Roll the mixture into quarter size balls and let sit for 2-3 days until completely hard
Step 4: Toss onto an empty piece of land and watch it grow!
