Via Waylon Lewis, editor of elephant journal dot com:

Last night I attended a schwanky party celebrating the fastest growing businesses in Boulder, Colorado. I saw more suits per square foot than I’ve seen in Boulder since I was a guest at the Boulder Chamber’s Businessperson of the Year Dinner, in honor of mentor Bob Morehouse.

While it put a little ache in my chest to think about how steadily elephant journal, as a magazine, had grown—our sales approaching half a million as we went national—being around so many talented entreprenuers and friends reminded me that I’d made the best move possible—one not afraid of risk; one in line with my own sense of integrity; and one that, long and medium-term, would pay off. So while elephant probably headed up the Fastest Imploding Companies list (not sure where that party was held, probably in a dark bar somewhere), we promise to be among the victors in Boulder County Business Report’s fastest growing companies next time we’re eligible (I believe they calculate every two years).

More to the point, I was heartened by how many “green” companies were…raking in the green. Leading the field was Eco Products, with gross sales of 36 million, and a tiring-just-to-look-at growth rate of 500 plus percent. Among the other victors was Pangea Organics, and my friend Arron Mansika, who I remember meeting with re the design of his packages (I recommended Kate) when he first started a couple years back.

Here’s the list:

I asked my friend Arron Mansika, founder of Boulder’s Best Organics, to give me a little write up:

Boulder’s Best Organics is the second fastest growing company in the Boulder Valley with sales under $2 million—no small feat in a place that’s bursting with entrepreneurs.

In fact, the company grew so well and so fast partly because of the entrepreneurial vibe so prevalent here.  BBO sources exclusively organic products from Boulder-based companies to offer them as high quality, convenient gift assortments.  One key to the company’s success is not just offering the well known brands, but also tapping into the abundant startups.  Several products on BBO’s menu are yet to be available anywhere else.  Other products that got launched through BBO are now available in Whole Foods and Sunflower Farmers Markets.  BBO customers enjoy coupling their favorite brands like Chocolove or Pangea, with brands that may soon become their favorites, like Licious Jams or Will’s Dressings.  And it’s not just locals who love access to such organic products.  In its first two years of sales, BBO sold over 10,000 gifts and received orders from every state in the nation.

With plans for continued, healthy growth, Boulder’s Best Organics looks to become part of the Boulder landscape. ~ Arron Mansika
