Yes Yes! Put the show in the website! Do you have some awesome people to use?
If you ever wanted to put it in LA I know some cool, beautiful green artist/skaters
that are all about being brave and good. Sometimes they make films, too.

By the way, Boing Boing is the world's most popular English-language blog, started as a paper 'zine in the early '90s by former Boulderites and friends Mark & Carla Frauenfelder. It's the only blog I've browsed regularly for years.

Way, you're asking TWO questions. Try breaking "the problem down" first; see if the answers fit together after:

1. What do YOU do to make your life and living work. You're the expert there but maybe 2. will shed light:
2. What does the PLANET do to make its ecology and economy work?

2. You've never reacted to my promotion of government by people as a check and balance to government by representatives, tho I've talked to you about it since we first met. But consider that Congressman Jared Polis, who I connected you with when he sought a meditation teacher, has distinguished his political career (which did more to turn Colorado Democratic than anyone's) by sponsoring two popular ballot initiatives. 2000's Amendment 23 has raised K-12 school funding 10% plus inflation; 2006's Amendment 41 is the country's strongest prohibition on lobbyists giving legislators "gifts." (His initiative for election-day voter registration failed.) In December he promised on KGNU to introduce a bill to give citizens NATIONAL ballot initiatives: http://spryeye.blogspot.com/2008/12/my-congressma... Jared is NOT afraid of Prop. 8 or other anti-gay ballot initiatives; he IS gay. He knows about the Newsweek poll showing a "surge in support for gay marriage" just a month after Prop. 8 passed: http://www.newsweek.com/id/172399 And that gay marriage opponents are "losing ground at a rate of slightly less than 2% a year": http://www.fivethirtyeight.com/2009/04/will-iowan... Jared, having been on the Colorado Board of Education, understands that ballot initiatives are an educational process, putting "issues" on the biggest "table": the ballot. Things take time: "By going wrong, all things come right." Unless most power is in a few hands...

Jared funded me to start a talk show in 2004. I blew it by attempting documentary as well as talk, and cut our losses after videoing one show at the old Channel 54 at the Dairy. Now with cheap vodcasting it's WAY easier and cheaper. Joanna's right: your show should be on the website; maybe real TV would follow.

I like her subject ideas. But to get more than the 12-35 set, do segments also about green, yoga, buddism, philosophy, etc. Jumping back and forth would stretch minds of all ages.

"Crowd-source" your shows: Let your audience suggest and vote on guests for your show. Maybe do what Maher did years ago, and have a few "citizen" panelists along with the celebs.

ALL of this is about giving people what they want: in entertainment, in commerce, in government. Of course, popularity is balanced by what the entertainer, the businessperson, the representative wants.

In each of these, if the people are ignored, bad things happen. That's disaster for the entertainer's career, the businessperson's business, and the PLANET, in the case of those with absolute national legislative power, Congress. It's because of their monopoly, more than anything, that the economy and the ecology are haywire, among other things.

If your show was run with popular input (and promoted popular politics, I would also hope) it could be a winner. Maybe Jared would give you start-up funding. I'd help.

I'm pretty sure I have a sticker around here somewhere that says, "I am elephant." Or maybe we're just the turtles the elephant is standing on. In any case, let it drift, man. This sounds like a great idea that just might take off. I don't see it as mutually exclusive with elephant. Maybe you can't put as much time and effort into it, but I don't think it will die. If the show takes off. Hire a small staff and allow elephant to be an independently operating, online, interactive appendage to the show. Like the moss on the rock.

Waylon, i think doing a Boulder show that would reach a similar audience as the Hills & City would have a great impact!! I do like Joana's ideas above, and maybe you could incorporate some of them, but I do believe it would take off faster to use the model that already works, just switch out the mind-numbing characters & replace them with thoughtful, active, imaginative, creative thinkers that you know and have access to. Great idea!

Why not put "Boulder" on Elephant? (We don't have tv.) But it should be more ethereal and beautiful than The Hills. It should be about crafty girls and skater boys, and finders with big pockets and a sense of fashion that's 19th century meets hipster, and people who play music in the woods with great tattoos. And lots of kissing. Make nature hot! But do you really have to hire actors? You should maybe first put your real cinematic life on elephant, Way. You are brave, we wanna see more, please. You have built something here, the only limit is your imagination--something I remind myself often.

Right now I'm trying to water the tree on the hill, and hope that the blessing runs down and waters everyone else. Last year I was playing with Abilene at a park in Niwot and a man came out of a tree to tell me that. There was a small geyser spurting out of the tree (at the crest of a hill) at the time. Tall, old man, white beard, white clothes. I think my family thinks I'm crazy, and because of that I could just try to forget about it, but hey, it actually happened!
I was scared to tell anyone about it, so then I just went and told everyone here:
http://www.elephantjournal.com/2009/01/cuffs-for-...

Here's a little Talking Heads~

"And you may ask yourself
How do I work this?
And you may ask yourself
Where is that large automobile?
And you may tell yourself
This is not my beautiful house!
And you may tell yourself
This is not my beautiful
wife!

Letting the days go by/let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by/water flowing underground
Into the blue again/after the moneys gone
Once in a lifetime/water flowing underground.

Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

Water dissolving...and water removing
There is water at the bottom of the ocean
Carry the water at the bottom of the ocean
Remove the water at the bottom of the ocean!

...Under the rocks and stones, there is water underground."

As much as I dislike most tv shows, I think that BOULDER is a fantastic idea. What better way to bring these ideas to the masses. Life imitates art, right?
