The amount of fossil fuels used to transport New Jersey organic strawberries to Honolulu is ridiculous. It's not shocking to see a Hummer parked outside of whole foods. In fact, it's rather apropos. Now, if we switch the image to our local co-op or farmers' market, that would be more ironic. Maybe it's a person who loves his/her body enough to buy organic, but doesn't bother with things like cutting their carbon footprint. Maybe it's someone who has already made changes in their lifestyle, but hasn't been able or willing to part with the platinum-plated status symbol vehicle yet.
