if you're going to rant about wearing fur, you really ought to be vegan--do you think dairy cows are treated humanely? you should also make sure all your belongings are animal free, no leather shoes or belts.

you might also want to make sure you don't live in the suburbs--inhumanely taking up space that could be left to (non-human) animals.

and don't drive a car, the emissions are terrible. and don't have a pet--they should be living in the wild, it's inhumane to keep them for our own enjoyment--especially if you're going to spay and neuter them taking away their sexuality for our own convenience.

and make sure the worms were removed from the soil of all the buildings you enter. and don't take anti-biotics. or eat anything made with yeast--since those actions are mass murder on those little bacterias.

obviously, my examples take things to extremes, and obviously i know approximately nothing about the lifestyle and choices of the author--however, i'm all too sick of leather shoe clad dairy guzzling vegetarians soap-boxing about the fur industry and how we shouldn't support it. who made you so "holy" to quote ghandi and pass judgements? to me it seems that instead of examining the lives of others, people ought to examine their own lives. if you really want to make the world a better place for animals, change your lifestyle, and go do service to animals and organizations for animals. but stop using sensationalism to make people feel bad--no one who wears fur is going to be convinced that way anyhow.

I don't know what the date of manufacturing really has to do with anything. There's some faulty logic there. If an 80 year old white man uses the "n word," is that okay because he grew up in a time when that's what people did? No. It might have been more accepted then, but that doesn't make it okay now because it's all he knows.

i firmly believe that wearing a fur is justifiable if it was manufactured in last 20-30+ years. During that time, wearing fur wasn't as big of a deal, the hunting of those animals was not looked down upon as they are today and it was commonplace. I know various people who own very vintage fur coats and wear them proudly, I also have had in my possession furs, and although today i wouldn't consider buying a "fresh mink", I think wearing fur can be justified depending on the date of manufacture.
