40 Days to Freedom: Will You Take The Yoga Challenge? ~ Lindsay Jean Thomson

I know what you’re thinking. I’m a yoga teacher…shouldn’t I already be doing yoga every day? Truthfully, I do practice most days but lately I’ve been feeling stagnant in my practice. When you’re teaching double-digit classes each week sometimes the inspiration just isn’t there, even though it’s what I love to do.

Although I know how important it is to practice, my effort is lacking. I believe you get out of something what you put into it, and yet I have a talent for justifying whatever it is that I want to do in the moment. (embarrassing confession: a former co-worker once called me the id of our team.)

It’s a balancing act, like anything else – in this case, it’s between being self-aware/honoring how I feel and challenging myself. I have a habit of starting projects and not finishing them– and that’s not something I’m proud of. So here it is: my best friend Mary Beth, a Santa Monica based yoga instructor, and I are doing a 40 Day Yoga Challenge. In addition to practicing yogasana daily, I’m also going to be working on continuing my yoga studies through reading, pranayama and meditation. And I’ll be blogging as I go.

will you join us?

what: 40 days of yogasana+

when: monday, january 18 – friday, february 26.

where: everywhere and anywhere.

why 40?: why not?!

why really: discipline! I lack it.

how: my body, my breath.

and you look so fine

when you lie, it just don’t show

but i know which way the wind blows

40 days of yoga to freedom is the only chance i have

to feel good even though i feel bad

and i know that

oh i’m not goin’ back

oh, i’m not goin’ back

oh, god knows, i’m not going back

oh, i’m…not goin’

oh….i’m not goin’ back

oh, i’m not goin’ back

oh, god knows, i’m not going back

oh, i’m…not goin’
