Overwhelmed by the multitude of oil spill images and news? You’re not alone. But that doesn’t mean you can stop paying attention. It’s only in building a sustained conversation that we’re going to start thinking about real alternatives, which includes lifestyle changes (think: kick your plastic habit), that will lead to positive change.
In the meantime, here’s a creative way that you can help the Gulf: buy a t-shirt printed with reclaimed oil from the spill. It’s no joke, Steve Brooker is using the oil from the environmental disaster and mixing it with ink to print T-shirts, as well as make necklaces, and giving a portion of proceeds to three different wildlife groups.
T-shirts from ihelpedcleanupthegulfoilspill.com are only $20, $5 of which goes to a non-profit of your choice: Tri-State Bird Rescue & Research, National Wildlife Federation or National Audobon Society.
Still not convinced? The website lays out the best reason for making a purchase.
You can buy t-shirts or cool necklaces anywhere, I don’t think you can find any that contain the sludge of the Gulf.
