Compassion for Pakistani flood victims. ~ Jeff Grygny

The Pakistani flood is causing unprecedented suffering to the people of this beautiful region.

Pakistan has been hit by the worst flooding the country has seen in 71 years. Almost one million people have been affected, including hundreds of thousands of children. ~Roger Moore (seriously)

It’s often thought that many of the mahasiddas (Buddhist saints) came from the Swat region, identified with parts of Pakistan, so we American Buddhists would seem to have a karmic connection with the place.

Please remember the men, women and children shivering in tents, grieving for their lost homes and cattle, and prone to hunger and sickness. If you feel inclined to offer help, Unicef accepts donations; perhaps some well-informed among us could suggest other reliable channels?

May all sentient beings enjoy happiness and the root of happiness
May they be free from suffering and the root of suffering
May they not be separated from the great happiness devoid of suffering
May they dwell in the great equanimity that is free from passion aggression and prejudice.
