Good Day Elephants! This will be my shortest posting to date!
I couldn’t let this good news slip past us in the crush of the 24 hour news cycle!
You may have heard that Facebook Founders Mark Zuckerberg, a whopping 26 years old and Dustin Moskovitz are joining Ted Turner, Warren Buffet, Bill and Melinda Gates and dozens more U.S. billionaires to give away half of their wealth during their lifetime! The Giving Pledge is definitely gaining momentum!
Anyone up for raising the ante to 75%– You know, wouldn’t it be nice if these courageous and caring folks got into a competition around how much they dare give back? I love the saying,”from those to whom much is given, much is required”. We already know that Ted Turner is personally committed to doing well by doing good. I can hear him say:
“I’ll see your 5o and raise you”
After all, how much does one person need to live—even in a consumer oriented society?
Check this out! It’s a quick read to appreciate another generous and courageous trend setter! The more Facebook grows the greater Mark’s philanthropy will follow. For our Elephant Journal followers, wouldn’t it be an interesting survey to track the core values that inspire the giving patterns of all philanthropists? Remember, it is not just the wealthy who contribute to “for benefit” causes, 89% of all American households contribute on an annual basis.
Why not join this happy crowd and feel the power of helping others?
