We Shambhala types call it “basic goodness”—human nature is fundamentally, non-dually “good”—like the sun and sky our nature can be overwhelmed by clouds, temporarily, but then again the sun and sky remain bright and clear behind those clouds, ready to reemerge when the storm of discursive mind passes.
If you assume that there’s no hope, you guarantee that there will be no hope. If you assume that there is an instinct for freedom, there are opportunities to change things, there’s a chance for you to contribute to making a better world. That’s your choice.
