Why do we kill people who kill people to show that killing people is wrong?

Via on Jan 4, 2011

War equals Murder.

As seen on twitter:

Iraq war: civilian deaths 66,081. That’s one 9/11 every 4 months for the last 7 years. No monuments. No moments of silence. Nothing. Marinate please.

Also seen on twitter:

Study : Close to 4,000 Civilians Killed in Iraq in 2010 (more than 9/11 in one year alone. 1 million dead Iraqis total) http://bit.ly/f6lUO0

From the United Nations Charter:

“Since wars begin in the minds of men, it is in the minds of men that the defences of peace must be constructed”.

Therefore:

Create real peace in your own mind and life, and let that radiate outward.

Kevin Liberty Hotaling End the wars, end the drug war and end the Federal Reserve. Not in 10 years, not in 1 year … now. Don't cast a single vote for anyone who says different and you can sleep well at night.

Waylon Lewis So who would you vote for? We'll feature your answer as a blog on ele!

I'm planning to campaign for Gary Johnson once he announces his candidacy (most likely mid-february). If you like, I'd be happy to write up 500 words as to why. Maybe: "Time to register Republican? Gasp!"

Paul Leard It's all fear based confusion acting and reacting with hope that there is a future of peace waiting on the other side of all this mess. UGH!

Waylon Lewis Kevin, send me the info or writeup, would be a fun one for respectful dialogue! write@elephantjournal.com

Janet H I completely disagree with @bentnwasted! The idea of killing someone to teach a lesson that killing someone is wrong doesn't even follow basic rules of logic, if I remember it correctly from college! I would LOVE to see the write-up about getting rid of the Federal Reserve, because I'm not sure what useful purpose it serves. I love Elephant!

Julieanne R Holly Near! Why,do we kill people, who are killing people to show that killing people is wrong? What a foolish notion that war is called devotion when the greatest warriors are the ones who stand for peace. Sadly, these questions are timeless..

    Jason J So well stated!

Laurie C If you manage to find an answer, I'd love to hear it. I've struggled with this since I wrote a High School term paper on this subject 40 years ago.

Johnny B I guess so we come to realize that 911 is way beyond what we are even aware of…see the loose change film.
and I suppose that out of hardships there is opportunity to evolve… to wake up? hopefully?

Paul Leard ‎"Non Violent Communication" people who would rather yell out violently to prove there non-violent point of view. Sad, confusing, but true.
