A healthy and fun way to kick off your weekend…

1. No hangovers.

Practicing yoga, a little meditation and chanting along with live music, healthy food and drinks with like-minded friends is a healthy, incredibly fun way to start your weekend.

2. Support a good cause.

Friday Night Yoga Club donates partial proceeds to the Chanda Plan Foundation whose goal is to help persons with disabilities heal their whole body.

3. Build Community.

Sick of a stressed-out, consumerist society? Be part of the green revolution that is Denver’s yoga community.

4. Support local yoga instructors, musicians, DJs and artists.

It’s not easy making a living when your intention is to bring beauty into other people’s lives—show up and show ‘em some love.

5. Support local green/organic businesses.

Most FNYC sponsor studios and product sponsors—including MADgreens, High Country Kombucha, NuDe Food Bars and Teatulia Teas are green, organic and 100% invested in making this world a better place to be.

Interested? Well, read on…

Friday Night Yoga Club (FNYC) is a new annual winter series which gathers Denver’s yoga community around the most innovative and inspiring yoga instructors, live musicians, DJs and artists in the area. The 7-week series runs 6-9 p.m., Friday, March 4 at Kindness Yoga (formerly Free Soul Yoga) and wraps up on April 15 at Rhythm Sanctuary. The evening includes a silent art auction to benefit the Chanda Plan Foundation along with fresh and healthy food and beverages.

A Sacred Journey—FNYC’s 2011 theme—visits a different Denver yoga studio each week and delivers an unparalleled yogic adventure offering a whimsical lighting and design environment along with a top-notch sound system. The instruction will flow through many types of yoga including Forrest, Jivamukti, Vinyasa Flow, Anusara, and Dharma Mittra Yoga.

2011 Yoga Instructors include some of Denver’s top-rated yoga teachers: Tina Porter, Karen Lerner, Shannon Paige Schneider and many more. Live music is offered by the area’s top instrumental and ambient soundscape musicians including Lil Sumn’ Sumn’, Damon the Zen Drummer, DJ Uplifter and many more.

Yoga instruction will be offered by multiple teachers to provide a challenging yet playful asana practice for all levels of yoga practitioners. The musical offerings will be unparalleled on the Denver yoga playground. Imagine live tabla players performing along side Denver’s most beloved down-tempo DJs. Envision Bhakti grooves leading practitioners in ecstatic chant.

Most evenings will begin in a deeply grounding meditation; slowly yogis will begin to move guided by prana-fueling instruction accompanied by slow, and rhythmic beats, enlivened by soul-stirring chanting. The energy in the room inspires everyone to move. The beats go deeper and get stronger. The bass thickens. The volume increases. Hearts thump. Sweat pours. Hearts open. You ask yourself, ‘what better way is there to start off my weekend?’
