Innisfree Poetry Bookstore & Café: Renaissance on The Hill in Boulder, Colorado.

Via on Feb 12, 2011

Innisfree, along with neighbor Café Aion and green, timeless standby Sink, Hapa Sushi, Espresso Roma…makes the Hill well worth the visit on a consistent basis.

Innisfree is cozy, but expanding into next-door space so spacious. One of only 3 only-poetry bookstores in US, apparently.

Would love to see bake case with more yummies, less plastic wrap, but hey this is coming from one of those eco bicyclist Boulder weirdos everyone likes to make fun of. They do plenty of “eco-minded” things—like compostable corn cups, which though far from perfect are far better than non-compostable, plastic.

Great coffee, service, nice owners, old-timey fun atmosphere. Lots of poetry readings. I find myself going frequently, now. You can even get coffee or tea etc to go out of window on the street.

It’s instantly one of my favorite cafes ever.

    my 2nd home.
Brian the owner is super-friendly and welcoming; and Lindsey the only other employee lets me sit there after hours while waiting for Couchsurfing requests to come through.
Plus, they take recommendations! So if you don't see your favorite poet represented on their shelves, that situation can be easily remedied. Tony Hoagland is now in the house!!

Love that they're connecting so wonderfully with the local poetry community at Naropa and all over Boulder. Would be cool to see Innisfree and Beat Bookshop host a night together..!

So excited to see Innisfree already doing so well! I just moved from Santa Cruz, CA, a city full of cozy, bookshelf-lined coffee shops, so Innisfree feels like a little piece of home. Keep it up!

A mecca of culture on the Hill?

Actually, I am really excited about how they are making poetry interesting. Personally, I can't stand poetry, and most poets, and most cafes. But innisfree does a good job taking the stuffiness and pretentious flavor out of poetry (and coffee shops in general). I really like what the staff has done.

    Hurray Culture! Hurray Coffee!
