SUV driver kills nephew of Dalai Lama on peace march for Free Tibet.

“Walk for Tibet, for world peace, human rights and Tibetan independence.”

It’s apt that the aging Dalai Lama, it’s just been announced by China, will be replaced by a Communist-named successor. It’s apt that the Dalai Lama’s nephew, walking for peace, was killed by an SUV, on Valentine’s Day, no less. It’s apt that Groupon’s ad stirred controversy for failing to recognize that Tibet has been subject to a genocide—one in six Tibetans were killed in the Communist invasion…not to mention sacking of monastaries, libraries, pissing and shitting by Communist troops on statues of the Buddha and sacred texts, rapes and forced sterilizations of nuns…and yet…we make fun of those who even bother to put a token bumper sticker on their…SUV…saying, FREE TIBET. We do nothing.

And that includes me. ~ Waylon

He was walking with traffic wearing a white sign that said, “Walk for Tibet, for world peace, human rights and Tibetan independence.”

“I walked with him many, many miles and of course, you know the blisters, but he never complained. He always said, it’s ok…my blisters are nothing compared to what happens in Tibet…my brothers and sisters suffering,” Dorjee said. Norbu was “always laughing” and “dedicated” to the work of his uncle, he added…

…”Our goal was 30 miles per day…we were a little behind and we just kept going,” Dorjee said. “He talked a little bit about his oldest son getting ready to go to high school and that he would maybe play football.”

The driver will not be charged in Norbu’s death.

From the Chicago Sun Times/AP:

PALM COAST, Fla. (AP) — Officials say the nephew of the Dalai Lama has been killed along the side of a Florida highway during a 300-mile “Walk for Tibet.”

The Florida Highway Patrol says 45-year-old Jigme K. Norbu (JIG’-me NOHR’-boo) was hit by an SUV about 7:30 Monday night along State Road A1A along the east coast.
According to www.ambassadorforworldpeace.org, Norbu was walking on Valentine’s Day from St. Augustine south to West Palm Beach to bring awareness to the Tibetan struggle for independence from China. He has done the walks several other times including in 2009 from Indiana to New York.

That one marked the 50th anniversary of a failed Tibetan rebellion against Chinese rule that resulted in the exile of his uncle.

Norbu of Bloomington, Ind., was the son of the Dalai Lama’s late brother, Taktser Rinpoche (ren-POH’-che).
