Distinguishing Between Perception and Concept. ~ Linda Lewis

The Practice of Contemplative Photography by Andy Karr and Michael Wood.

The subtitle says it all—“Seeing the World with Fresh eyes”.  This beautiful 8 ½ by 10” book full of color photographs is about perception as much as it is about photography.

Through distinguishing between perception and concept, Karr and Wood reveal the richness of ordinary life, which we so often miss because of not being open and awake to our ever-changing surroundings.

The book includes exercises influenced by Buddhist mindfulness practice as well as photographic assignments.

Shambhala, 2011. Paperback US $26.95; Canada $31.00
