In the face of such incongruities, it is easy to shelter ourselves inside our day-to-day activities. It is tempting to protect ourselves from the troubling truth. Considering the world's environmental, social, political and economic state, it takes a great deal of bravery, some days, just to read the news. Yet awareness of these heart-wrenching realities is the key to action.276 views

Besides supporting legalized abortion, Betty Ford faced and shared frankly her personal struggle with alcohol and prescription pills, and later founded the Betty Ford Center outside of Palm Springs, a 12-Step in-patient recovery center that was the first licensed Addiction Hospital in the world. Her willingness to face her addiction publicly forever changed addiction care for the better, and brought the hidden aspects of addiction to the light. Powerful legacy, Betty. Though many eastern philosophies would like to convince us differently – our egos are rather phenomenal. They administer tons of goodness and kindness. Things go awry in our inner and outer world when the ego believes it is in service of itself, AKA unawareness.595 views

We don’t really give a lot of importance to noses. Good for olfactory stuff like smelling and remembering things by their smell.Terrible irritation if you’ve a cold and up and till the point I started practising yoga, my nose was just partner to my ears in the chore of keeping my spectacles in check.1,315 views

I believe we are meant to become the best human possible. Not stop being human, but come to a place where we are living our fullest potential. And to do this we must know all aspects of humanity; to experience being the captor and the prisoner, the victor and the loser; ruler and serf; we must know success and failure; joy and pain.465 views

Most of us live in a culture of such extreme narcissism and secular materialism, we have no context for knowing how to honor and respect a dimension of life that is infinitely greater than the personal sphere. We are culturally unprepared to respond to our own deepest spiritual experiences, and therefore, even after glimpsing the glory of our own potential, we rarely make the noble effort to actually transform ourselves for the highest reasons.564 views

We were each attempting to figure out what was right for ourselves, and at the same time trying to spare the other unnecessary pain. It meant some lying by omission. That wasn't the yoga talking. That was the fear and we both had it.1,461 views

Being open, aware and conscious are the elements that unlock our hearts and allow us to gracefully wade through our emotions. In a world that is strung up on the perpetual pursuit of happiness, our natural instinct to minimize pain and suffering when possible is quickly becoming a need to avoid suffering by any means necessary. Until we come to the realization and acceptance that suffering and happiness exist in tandem, people will continue to feed either one at the cost of starving the other, creating imbalance.1,372 views

Will I have enough money? What will I have when I retire? Unfortunately, so much energy is wasted in worrying about the future that we deplete our energy supply and reduce what we can do now which in turn affects the future.609 views

The anticipation of a life-altering event includes all the emotions we allow ourselves to feel, yet the intensity of it can be more in the direction of anxiety. We are not yet focused or are able to firmly feel the gravity of it until we our fully engrossed in the midst of the event playing out.721 views

Before Freud's time, orgasm – or “medical massage” - was regularly prescribed by doctors. When I first learned about it as a young medical student, I thought that recommending “medical massage” aka “getting off” sounded pervy and rife with complex therapeutic boundaries...not to mention risky medicolegal issues. Then I immersed myself in the literature of orgasm and oxytocin - the main hormonal mediator released by orgasm – and realized that indeed the ancient pervs were onto something.2,490 views

Energy brings opportunities for money, relationships and health. When energy is met with an obstacle, it diverts from it's normal path, which in turn takes longer to complete the "lo shu flight path." For example, picture yourself driving along and all of the sudden the light turns red, which in turn forces you to come to a screaching halt. If you were to keep doing this a dozen times, it would eventually take longer for you to get to your destination.938 views
