Honoring the Womb – The Creative Center.

Mandala by Amy Swagman

A woman’s womb is her creative center.

Within this physical and energetic space her creative ability is allowed to unfold in various ways- through the conception and growing a child, painting a picture, writing a poem, cooking a meal, expressing her body through movement, planning a vacation and limitless other possibilities. When we create space to honor our wombs and do so with awareness, we embrace our own unique femininity and can tap into our truth, our joy, and love for ourselves and each other.

Here are a few ways to honor your womb.

One: Create a Womb Journal. – A womb journal is a tool that can be as simple or as elaborate as you choose. It can be a tool for self-discovery or a fun way to appreciate your womb. Within this journal, you can express what you feel within your physical, emotional, mental, or spiritual body. List words, draw pictures, write the earliest memory and experience with your womb or write about your most recent womb experience. Find pictures that move you to be conscious of your womb and your femininity and glue them into your journal. Invite your friends to do the same and share!

Two: Bleed Consciously and Celebrate. – Bleeding time is a wonderful opportunity to practice listening to the needs of your body. What is it that you feel called to do or not do during this time?  Try giving yourself plenty of rest and quiet time during bleeding. Treat yourself to healing bodywork.  Plan a day of enjoyable creative endeavors like trying a new art class or sitting in nature with your journal. Slow down and in the midst of slowing down, witness what unfolds within your being.

Three: Send love to your womb. – When lying in bed at night, give thanks to your womb. Place your hands on your womb like a mother might comfort a child with her loving touch. Allow the words of your heart to be expressed and allow your womb to absorb this offering. Nothing can be right or wrong in this process. Accept all feelings, thoughts and emotions. This process allows the womb to remain in your consciousness and can be quite healing.

Carving out space to nourish and appreciate your womb may have long lasting and amazing results in your life! This is your body, your gift – create yourself with beauty. Enjoy augmenting your life with a womb ritual that feels right to you!
