Commonly found amongst the indigenous mountain cults of Nepal and Tibet is the ritual of burnt offerings at the mountain summit. This practice of making fragrant offerings to propitiate unseen forces is one that is found the world over, from the Vedas to the Old Testament. In the traditions of the folk-magic and religion of Tibet in particular, we find a highly developed expression of this tradition159 views

Asana, or physical yoga postures, are only referenced in three of the 196 stanzas or aphorisms in Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras. The remaining 193 describe other aspects of yoga practice, philosophy, concepts and traditions. Yes, yoga is much more than asana.159 views

I come to a little wooden bridge. I come here often to stand on this little wooden bridge, and watch the little waterfall that I think of as mine tumble into a little river. I welcome the water that rushes at me. I want it to rush over me, tumble me, and clear away the sludge of my clinging. Fervently, I want this.516 views

Much of the media seems confused by this. “There are no leaders,” more than one report has complained. “There are no demands, no agenda.” However, there is something that links the diverse numbers who have assembled a piecemeal movement, first on Wall Street and now in cities across North America. They are all, every one of them, angry.106 views

The real zombies are mindless, emotionless, soulless, and devoid of conscience. They cannot usually be located in space, yet they exist everywhere, and affect almost every facet of human life. They are not people, yet they hold many of the rights of persons, and uphold few of the responsibilities. They’re not even alive, yet they grow and multiply, mainly by consuming resources that rightly belong to everyone. If left unchecked, they will destroy life as we know it. Their only aim is to maximize profits, regardless of the consequences.1,600 views

Lovers separated, unrequited love, hankerings and unfulfilled dreams: what's it all about? Much has been written over the course of centuries about separation between lovers, the longing for reunion and the depth of emotion experienced in the absence of one’s beloved. Is it all a great cosmic joke designed to waste our time, smother us in feelings of remorse and rob us of our intelligence? Or is it actually the cosmic key that unlocks the mystery of the entire spiritual and material creation?4,142 views

My brain-mind's idea about who I am, meets your brain-mind's idea of who you are - and we call it a relationship. But, really, our true Minds, our hearts, never meet. Neurons may fire and we may feel like something real is happening, but it's rather quite like the Matrix.447 views

At a restaurant last week (in Morocco) I was eating some kind of pigeon-chicken-bird. A mother dog and two sweet black puppies appeared. So cute! I was feeling homesick, and missing the total-body-wag of an old doggy friend, and here were two little surrogates. I fed them all bits of the bird-creature. They wagged and licked. But when I tried to pet them, the dogs fled. What was that all about?256 views
