Sing Along With Crosby & Nash – Last Night on Countdown

Warm up your vocal cords; let your voice be heard!

The legendary gurus of peace and social justice music, David Crosby and Graham Nash, made an appearance at the Occupy Wall Street demonstration yesterday in New York.  Kieth Olbermann invited them to sing their song for peace and share their impressions of the Occupy Wall Street demonstrations on his new show.

Crosby, Nash and Olbermann - discuss the Occupy Movement

Check out this video and sing along. Crosby and Nash just returned from a 7 week tour of Europe where they sang this tune to crowds that cheered the “Occupy Movement” at every venue. I gave you two links to be certain you’ll click on at least one of them.

To put this in a spiritual context, I bow to Lao Tzu:

“Of all that is good, sublimity is supreme. Succeeding is the coming together of all that is beautiful. Furtherance is the agreement of all that is just. Perseverance is the foundation of all actions.”

Take a few more moments and appreciate the lyrics to Chicago… for the younger crowd they were singing about the Democratic National Convention, when an earlier wave of protestors exercised their right to free assembly in opposition to the illegal conflict in Vietnam.  Here is a fascinating law suit that the State of Massachusetts filed with the supreme court to protect it’s own citizens. Constitutional Law students and aspiring attorneys may find this especially illuminating. An early attempt to declare the “war” unconstitutional. Most of us will find this way too dense, reminding us that attorneys rarely contribute to solutions, more often, they create or prolong problems in a grossly inefficient  manner. Such is the state of law. Time to come up with a better system – oh, that’s what the occupy movement is saying – right?  It’s time to reinvent the world. Here is a simple truth: “we will never know what is possible, unless we strive for the desirable”.

I can’t leave you with only one song. Here is a thought to ponder, do you believe that our recent “wars” protect your freedom and our national security? For the record, the last officially declared War was in 1941 – Congress has never officially declared war since then, every one of our adventures has been characterized as hostilities with “armed conflict”.  Maybe you’ll want to join an occupy group soon and raise your voice. The choir is growing stronger by the day.

Just click on the black screen and you’ll be taken to this compelling A cappella hymn recorded in the Royal Albert Hall.
