Love & Relationships. ~ Chloe Park

The three questions I am most asked while traveling are, in order:

Are you Japanese?

Are you married?

Do you have a boyfriend?

They are always so disappointed when I answer no.  Especially after question number three. I’m usually met with dismay or shock, followed by the question: “Why not?

I like this one the best: “But you’re at the prime age!” That response always makes me laugh, prime age for what? I don’t know. It’s just not really in the plan right now. I’m busy. I’m directing my energy towards other things at the moment. You can’t do everything all at once. My focus is on something else and it takes up the majority of my time. It needs an immense amount of nurturing and attention. Priorities take turns; to find balance there is a constant teeter totter, push pull, you know, that whole concept of yin yang. It’s all a dance.

I do have the most incredible men in my life. None that hold the title of partner or boyfriend, but regardless- friends that are strong, Shiva-like human beings, that I hold close and dear. They are super special beings.

Although, I do have my fair share of romantic tales. I always meet the most enchanting men. They seem to have this way of charming me off my feet. I’ve learned through experience that keeping (at minimum) one foot on the ground is absolutely key. As much as I love fairy tales, these days I keep both feet down.

I have this knack for choosing men that either live 3,000 miles away, on another continent, or that have a girlfriend. To be fair towards me- the girlfriend guy told me they were broken up.  I found out later that this wasn’t truly the case. I think they’re even still together. Yeah, I totally fell for it, but I learned a heck of a lot through that one. Talk about karmic untangling.

I met someone here in Bali. On the second day of my house hunt in Ubud, the day after the eclipse and the full moon. He was on his way out while I was on my way in. He’s an eight of hearts too, just like me. We met knowing it wouldn’t last. The beauty of it was that knowing that made it even more sacred—we were able to really just be with each other– to be present.

“This is the beginning of the end,” he said. “Or the end of the beginning,” I replied. “It all depends on how we look at it.”

Deepak Chopra says:

Whatever relationships you have attracted in your life at this moment, are precisely the ones you need in your life at this moment. There is a hidden meaning behind all events, and this hidden meaning is serving your own evolution.

What if we could all enter into our relationships with the notion that perhaps this may be the last time I see or get to be with this person? What if we engaged in our relationships with the awareness of this will last as long as it is supposed to last? What if we were able to be with someone fully without any expectation? What if we stepped into life with one another with the idea of maybe, just maybe—we’re here to serve some sort of purpose in one another’s lives. What if each relationship we got into just continues to become better and better? What if each relationship was a stepping stone to the person we ultimately choose—and re-choose, over and over again.

I know what I’m looking for. And I will never settle. Neither should you. Relationships serve as the most beautiful mirror. Each relationship I step into, I get more and more clear on what I want and more importantly, what I need. He is a visionary. Both my muse and his own maker. As passionate about his own path as I am on mine.

We will be the protectors of each other’s solitude. Standing side by side, we will be unstoppable. I know this; it’s one of those inner knowledge kind of deals. He’s there, he’s doing his thing, while I’m doing mine. It’s just not quite the right time now. I’ve got work to do and so does he. Inner work and life’s work. Like the people say, I’m at the prime age.

In the meantime, let’s all do our personal work to attract an even more pure and mutually enhancing love vibration. Not just in our romantic relationships, but in our all kinds of relationships. Now doesn’t that sound amazing?
