We all have moments and days when we feel less than perfect. Our exterior persona is stripped away to reveal a somewhat less likeable version of ourselves – our Mr Hyde, if you like.387 views

Families are complicated. They are messy, annoying, exciting, appalling, and did I mention complicated? And, because of that, they are sometimes really hard to understand. I think that family systems theory can help us explain the complexity and messiness of families. Now, hold on. I know that “systems theory” sounds kind of lofty and academic. But, once you get the basics, I think it has some wonderful lessons for day-to-day life.677 views

Our longest night gives way to ever increasing daylight. There is hope in knowing this. But the reality remains; I live in the Northeast and winter lasts until late April. So here I go, making the playlist that will revive me when I fall into deep, frigid despair.896 views

B vitamins are helpful for so many important processes in the body and are easily depleted with alcohol, caffeine and stress -- the American trio! You can also take your vitamin B supplement daily for general health and a more preventative approach. If you take them daily, I recommend taking it in the morning since they can give you a nice little energy boost. If you end up drinking too much later on, you can take one with some water before you go to bed and possibly another the morning after with a little food.560 views

You decide. What does social change mean to you? What are you willing to do to see your vision of the world become real? What is the best path for you? Does the process of seeing this vision become real need involve a political process at all?149 views

I wore lots of black, saw lots of foreign films, sipped cappuccinos in coffee houses, collected the most interesting people. Yep, even played the bongos once in a street band. Studied arts of course in college, my world was drawn by Frieda Kahlo, Smiths soundtrack, politics shaped by Capra, Goddard and Wenders. I was outside the box, and deeply aware that art, culture drive us as much as DNA.124 views

Do not be fooled by the images of sex trafficking you’ve seen broadcast by the mainstream media. These kids are not child prostitutes, juvenile delinquents, or teenage troublemakers. In fact, they very well could be your own son or daughter.498 views

I just read Waylon’s latest (I haven't gone far in life). He muses over how we seem to move around a lot nowadays, how people don’t tend to stay in the places where they were born and brought up.520 views

As America withdraws its final troops from Iraq for example, does this act mark the attainment of peace – finally? And if so, for whom? Presumably for the families and loved ones of these service men and women who have served their country presumably in the name of peace, even though we know that war can never bring forth peace; certainly not without a fair share of strife and reconciliation.148 views

"Yoga will improve your sex life," I said as a last ditch effort to convince my father-in-law to take a class. As I said the words, the truth of these basic words echoed in my head. Why do we shy away from this as we describe the benefits of yoga with increased clarity, connecting more with the earth and people, stronger muscles and improved flexibility. These are all nice benefits, that cover up the real story here, you will start having better sex. You want me to spell it out for you? S-E-X!!!533 views

Now, when we fall in love, we fall gingerly, with a rope and a shit ton of climbing gear. We go rock by rock, and we choose when to let go. We are better at this now, and our relationships are richer and more interesting, and they don't have any more guarantees than they ever did. We just have a lot of gear with us. So we can climb back up if we need to.2,015 views
