Pineapple Detox Juice.

Spring Cleanse Recipes.

In the spirit of preparing for my Spring Cleanse starting this March 24th (filling up fast..!), I’ve been playing with new recipes to add to the menu. This juice is not only delicious and amazing, but (gasp) it’s also very nutritious.

Pineapple contains the enzyme bromelain which—according to the National Institute of Health—is considered a type of cysteine proteinase, an enzyme that helps break down protein.

Get ready colon, bromelain is here to clean you out!

This sweet, yellow fruit of the Gods is also thought to have an anti-inflammatory effect and has even been used to help reduce the effects of arthritis. It’s worth a shot, right?

Pineapple also contains a large amount of Vitamin C  which is easily destroyed at high temperatures. This means, no pineapple upside-down cake. Yet, do not despair ye lovers of baked pineapple delectables! I just might be able to create a raw, healthy version of your sweet, spongy dessert. A Rawnapple upside-down cake. Challenge accepted…

Ingredients:

  • 2-3 thick slices of fresh pineapple (the canned kind has tons of added sugars)
  • 1/2 cucumber
  • 1/3 cup aloe vera juice
  • 1/2 cup coconut water

Directions:

  1. Juice.
  2. Give Thanks.
  3. Chug-a-lug.
P.S. The cute little pink straw pictured above is eco-friendly and compostable! I got a pack of them on Abbott Kinney at The G2 Gallery (they have any color you could possibly want).
