The Wonder and Whimsy of Childhood.

Sisters, by Jason Lee.

Chronicling childhood in pictures can be difficult for some of us. We end up with staged, uncomfortable pictures, in which our kids don’t quite look like themselves, or images where they do, but the picture is blurry, the outfits are unfortunate, and there is a bit too much snot (don’t tell me you haven’t seen that toddler picture!).

Photographer Jason Lee, however, has this gig wrapped up! His “Sisters” series expresses all of the adorable, feisty, wonderful, complicated, gorgeous, joyful excitement of childhood. Some of the images are enhanced by really cool processing, while others are more “standard” shots, but taken with such skill and love that they are breathtaking.

These pictures make me want to grab a camera and some kids and start snapping shots. Or maybe a photography class would be good somewhere in there.
