“Single Mother Bristol Palin Tells Obama Same-Sex Marriage is Wrong Because Kids Need a Mom and Dad.” {Gawker}

“Did she also tell him that sex education inevitably led to teen pregnancy, and that abstinence was the only answer?” ~ Reddit comment.

Gawker is 25% trash, 25% “anh,” 20% on it…and 5% sharp, witty, honest brilliance.

Here’s the most recent Gawker Brilliance. Excerpt:

“In this case, it would’ve been helpful for him to explain to Malia and Sasha that while her friends parents are no doubt lovely people, that’s not a reason to change thousands of years of thinking about marriage,” she writes. “Or that – as great as her friends may be – we know that in general kids do better growing up in a mother/father home. Ideally, fathers help shape their kids’ worldview.”

Says the unwed single mother of one whose baby daddy is the living embodiment of Goofus from Highlights.

Sadly, she goes on:

“Sometimes dads should lead their family in the right ways of thinking. In this case, it would’ve been nice if the President would’ve been an actual leader and helped shape their thoughts instead of merely reflecting what many teenagers think after one too many episodes of Glee.”

OK, enough.

Go after the president, fine. Object to his worldview, no sweat. Use an antediluvian argument about an institution that has been constantly shaped and reshaped — even within Christianity itself — in order to excuse your blatant discrimination of taxpaying American citizens…”

Love how the author nail the point that, no, marriage has been anything but a solid, stable tradition. Greeks and Romans, anyone? Mormons? Even the Bible itself is all over the place on relationships.

Another Reddit comment: “Yeah, she justifies her positions by saying that Obama challenged thousands of years of tradition…ignoring the fact that we USED to STONE WOMEN FOR HAVING PREMARITAL SEX…ring a bell?”

As for why we ought to care what this young…woman says, via Reddit: “Yeah, but unless Republicans start shouting down the idiots in their party, it’s a winning strategy to highlight them to our increasingly well-educated populace. I mean why not just show Rush Limbaugh speeches on women as Obama advertising in swing states. It doesn’t mean that it what the educated part of the GOP stands for, or even believes; it just means they are letting idiots create their party line for them and until they fix that major internal problem they are going to have a hard time winning a national election—even with a tanked economy.”

More Gawker brilliance.
