I Believe In You.

I know it was dangerous. Reckless even.

But I had to do it. I had to write the note while I drove over the Manayunk Bridge.

I believe in you.

It was an overwhelming feeling in that moment. I felt real, tangible fear that if I didn’t write down the sentiment in that very second–that it would lose its power. I feared that the feeling would pass right through me and on to some other more receptive vessel. I wanted the universe to see that I had received the message and that I was taking it very seriously.

I believe in you.

So I wrote these words down on the back of a Post-it note that had a set of directions on it. While driving. Yes, I know. It’s worse than texting and driving.

And now, as if it isn’t enough, I’m going to write on elephant journal about the experience. So that the universe really understands how seriously I am taking this.

While all of this belief stuff was rising up to the brim and spilling over, Bob Marley’s “It’s Alright” played in the background. Beads of sweat weren’t just forming on my forehead–they were sloshing off like they were in a race to perspire from my body. Heat wave.

What is it that I believe in exactly? Who is it? What is it? It is a someone. But I think it’s also a something. If I knew exactly, trust me…I would divulge fully to you. But alas, it is a feeling–not a tangible, sculpted, physical thing that I can post pictures of to Facebook. All I have are the words. And even then, they don’t fully encompass the feeling. The absolute belief.

I believe in you.
