Child’s Pose: a Poem.

Ink and watercolor by Anne Falkowski.

Sometimes

I have to stop myself.

Get down

On hands and knees

And bow to the simple ground.

Scoop up dirt in my fingers

Spread the earth’s moisture

On my body.

Forehead pressed

Into darkness

And breathe

Yes

And breathe

Juicy alive breath

Connected

Deep

To all beings

That have ever

Bowed to this ground.
