You Can Do It: One Marketing Action Per Day!

“Why Don’t You Learn Something Today!”

~ Wisdom dropped by angry biker, okay yelled at the driver of car in a rush.

Like that wasn’t the Universe talking to me? I can go on with my life enjoying my morning coffee, or I can recognize that I’m part of that conversation and sit with that biker’s advice. Then crazy takes over and I start thinking about Jerry Garcia and Robert Hunter from the song Althea: “Can’t talk to you without talking to me…We’re guilty of the same old things…Thinking a lot about less and less…And forgetting the love we bring.” Was the biker talking to himself? Me? The driver?

“Why Don’t You Teach Something Today!”

This is the voice all teachers hear as they walk through their life. The words have changed and take the form of action. We all know the best teachers remain students their entire lives, learning at every opportunity. Is there a difference between these two questions?

Are you a student of how to grow your yoga class size? How to market your studio? As a student, I always ask myself, “Are you coachable?” When you think about marketing, are you coachable?

Start with this—commit to one marketing action per day.

Baby steps. I know you can do 10 things today and not do anything for the next two weeks. The question is can you do something every day.

When you think about your studio and your class size what are your goals?

Dream the dream big, because it will happen and you will want to have what you get.

Seriously. Start today and be consistent. Your dreams are a product of the actions you take every day. You can ignore the voice in your head or you can teach us something today.

Althea by The Greatful Dead

(music by Jerry Garcia and lyrics by Robert Hunter)

I told Althea, I was feeling lost
Lacking in some direction
Althea told me upon scrutiny
That my back might need protection

I told Althea that treachery
Was tearing me limb from limb
Althea told me, now cool down boy
Settle back easy, Jim

You may be Saturday’s child all grown
Moving with a pinch of grace
You may be a clown in the burial ground
Or just another pretty face

You may be the fate of Ophelia
Sleeping and perchance to dream
Honest to the point of recklessness
Self-centered to the extreme

Nobody messin’ with you but you
Your friends are getting most concerned
Loose with the truth, maybe it’s your fire
Baby I hope you don’t get burned

When the smoke has cleared, she said
That’s what she said to me
You’re gonna want a bed to lay your head
And a little sympathy

There are things you can replace
And others you cannot
The time has come to weigh those things
This space is gettin’ hot…You know this space is gettin’ hot

I told Althea, I was a roving sign
I was born to be a bachelor
Althea told me, okay that’s fine
You know now I’m trying to catch her

Can’t talk to you without talking to me
We’re guilty of the same old things
Thinking a lot about less and less
And forgetting the love we bring
