How Cool is This? We Can Now Explore the Ocean Depths with Google “Street” Views!

Wowsa wow wow.

Explore six of the world’s most incredible underwater spots, including coral reefs (and their inhabitants) in Australia, the Philippines and Hawaii without even getting wet!

The 360 degree imagery is available to millions of people through the Street View feature of Google Maps and in their Street View Gallery at: maps.google.com/ocean in partnership with Catlin Seaview Survey.

This amazing project will hopefully inspire more people to not only appreciate the wonders of the ocean, but motivate more conservation.

(I can’t help but wonder—is it possible all of this high tech photography could in any way disturb the reefs? I’ll continue to investigate. Please share your thoughts!)
