“It’s the one day that is given to you. It is a gift. And the only appropriate response is gratefulness.”

“If you don’t like something, change it. If you can’t change it, change your attitude. Don’t complain.”

~ Maya Angelou

Complaining is like a virus. I’m all for being honest about the present moment—and sometimes the present moment isn’t pretty—but when we keeping passing along gripes and complaints about every little thing it becomes insidious.

I was doing some Facebooking earlier and got a little fed-up/sad at all the complaints I saw. The government sucks. The weather sucks. My family sucks. Blah Blah Blah. So I took a few minutes to write up what I was feeling thankful for to share that instead.

We get to decide what we pass along. When we pass along joy, gratitude and delight at the simple things in life, we are being of benefit. It might not clean up the oceans, it might not end the wars, but guess what? It’s a start.

Before you start your weekend, take a minute and thank someone, give thanks for something—even for something as simple as the rain.

Gratitude is contagious too:
