Try the Green Stuff.

This is #33 of 108 Ways to Livin’ the Moment. Let’s take back our lives one beautiful, funny, and delicious moment at a time

#33 of 108:  Try the Green Stuff. Just Try it!

One billion people in the world are chronically hungry. One billion people are overweight.

My own prescription for health is less paperwork and more running barefoot through the grass.

You may tend to get cancer from the thing that makes you want to smoke so much, not from the smoking itself.

My wife and I recently stumbled upon a place in our neighborhood called Physical Graffitea. A tea shop.

My wife drinks tea. I don’t drink tea.

I drink coffee. Black coffee.

I looked at all the people in the tea shop and couldn’t help but think to myself, what a bunch of wussy tea drinkers.

I thought, “All these tea drinkers must do yoga and be so spiritual and watch rhythmic gymnastics with their schnitzels. Jeez.”

Wait a second, I do all those things.

So I said to the lady in the tea shop, “Gimme the strongest thing you got and make it a double.”

Well…if you know me, it probably came across with a screechy voice and sounded more like, “Hi, I have never had tea before what would you recommend.”

The lady poured me a six scoop iced matcha green tea latte with soy milk and agave.

I know what you coffee drinkers (and men over 200 pounds) must be thinking, and no, I was not wearing a girdle…or a pink thong.

And this is very much opposed to my Drink It Black philosophy.

And…this tea drink was green?!

I took a sip. Not bad.

I had another sip.

Jacked!

This matcha stuff is strong. And smooth.

I left Physical Graffitea with green lips, a lighter wallet (green tea is not cheap) and a blazing natural high.

Best of all, there is no coming down from it.

There are days now where I will have two or three of these matcha drinks, get high, and never get low, which is my chief complaint with coffee. The lows are anxiety ridden and exhausting.

In Japan, matcha is so powerful they treat it as a ritual, much like we treat yoga.

As it goes with a ritual, you need a magic tool, a bamboo whisk, in order to make a matcha latte.

It only takes a second.

A few scoops of the Matcha, add hot water, whisk, add soy milk, some agave.

It’s not convenient like coffee, and it’s certainly not something you can drink with your buddies while watching football on Sunday.

But if you’re struggling with coffee-induced or the exhausting highs and lows of caffeine, give this matcha stuff a try and get ready for a clean, sweet, healthy, happy lift!

P.S. Matcha is expensive but think of it as an investment in your health. In 2003, researchers from the University of Colorado found that the concentration of the antioxidant epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) available from drinking matcha is up to 137 times greater than the amount of EGCG available from other commercially available green teas.

P.S.S. The bamboo whisk and matcha powder are available at any Whole Foods or tea shop.

P.S.S.S. There are a million YouTube videos on “Making a Matcha Latte”
