68 Reasons to Shop Locally.

I’ve been a supporter of the 3/50 project since I heard about it a few years ago.

It’s easier to go to the big box stores. Online shopping is definitely easier, and I love small online stores like etsy shops. But one of the simplest things you can do to support your local economy is to patronize small local businesses.

For every $100 you spend in a local store $68 of it stays in your local economy.

I love knowing the people who made or grew what I’m buying. I love the uniqueness of handmade and vintage finds. But maybe most of all, I love knowing that my purchase is having a direct impact on improving the lives of people in my community.

We may not be able to change the world in one big swoop, but if each of us made the commitment to three local purchases a month, it would have a huge impact.
