A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far, away… this mess happened.
I could go into detail about the plot but honestly, it’s just something you need to see for yourself! The special was broadcast only once on Nov. 17th 1978 on CBS and never re-aired, nor was it ever officially released thereafter, and after viewing it, you’ll understand why.
It’s fun for the cheese factor and the complete randomness of special guest appearances including Bea Fucking Arthur, Art Carney and…Jefferson Starship?! Yup, that’s right. The one sort of cool thing is a cartoon included in which the iconic Bob Fett makes his first Star Wars appearance. It’s also fun to note that in interviews done over recent years, Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia) admits to be coked out of her mind and barely remembers filming any of this special!
The Star Wars Holiday Special is available on Youtube in nine parts. I’ve provided Part I below with each video subsequently linking to the next. Whether you’re interest in Star Wars is rooted in mythology, it’s underlying Buddhist nature or you just dig it for what it is, I guarantee you will be thoroughly disappointed… but not necessarily in the worst way, with this Holiday Special.
Happy Life Day!
