Same Bliss, Different Day.

“Illuminated emancipation,

freedom,

unalloyed and untainted bliss await you,

but you have to choose to embark on the Inward Journey to discover it.”

~ B.K.S. Iyengar

I woke up this morning, ready to take on the world.

Actually, no. I woke up this morning, and immediately wanted to go back to sleep. I peeked out at the snow. Waited a little before I got going with my practice. As I began to be present in my body, to pay attention to my breath, I felt completely…I don’t know if I have the word for it. Delighted?

Half a month into my return to daily practice after being bogged down by busy-ness and a never-ending chest cold, I feel like I’ve excavated a little—physically and spiritually. I could talk about the asana: what was good today, what was challenging. I could talk about other details.

The most significant thing for me today was that I caught myself feeling not just contented, but blissful.

It’s good to notice when we we are happy. We are quick to notice when we aren’t! So, no major insight, or tips, or playlists or anything. Just this:

May you notice when you are happy.

May it be a golden place in the center of your chest.

May it turn up the corners of your mouth without your permission.

May a laugh escape before you can hold it back.

May you be the blue sky.
